Stop New Nuclear newsletter no 8, 8 October 2011

Dear all,

thank you everyone for making the blockade of Hinkley Point on 3 October a huge success. For about nine hours, we blockaded the nuclear power station with up to 400 people. This was the biggest anti nuclear power action in Britain for quite some years. It marked the beginning of a new anti nuclear power movement in this country, and you all made this possible.

Bridgwater marchers call for an end to nuclear power

More than 150 people marched through Bridgwater today to protest against EDF Energy’s plan for two new mega-reactors at Somerset’s Hinkley Point nuclear power station.

In the first of a series of demonstrations over the next three days, protesters converged opposite EDF Energy’s regional headquarters with an array of costumes and banners before marching through the town centre.

Stop New Nuclear newsletter no 5, 18 September 2011

Dear all,

welcome to our fifth Stop New Nuclear newsletter. With little more than two weeks to go, we need to make a last effort to mobilise even more people to the blockade of Hinkley Point on 3 October. More than 100 people have pledged to blockade, and 150 to support - can we reach the total of 300 pledgers within the next two weeks? Or even 400? Please help us to spread the information, and ask your friends, family, colleagues, ... to pledge.

STOP PRESS: London training session this Sunday 18.09.11

If you are based in London and want to meet fellow blockaders, there will be a training session and get-together this Sunday, September 18th. The session will be from 1pm - 5pm at the London Action Resource Centre, 52 Fieldgate Street, London, E1 1ES. Tea and cake will be available. The session will go through the logistics of the weekend camp and give everyone an insight into the different roles they can play at the blockade itself.
