What's New Anti-nuclear protest held over plans to expand Hinkley Point

Anti-nuclear campaigners from across the UK held a mass rally on Saturday (October 6th) in protest against plans to build Hinkley C nuclear power station, near Burnham-On-Sea.

Campaigners said the aim of the rally, held in Bridgwater, was to highlight the stockpile of used nuclear fuel that will be stored at Hinkley Point if the new reactor gets the go ahead.

They are concerned about the impact on the local environment in the event of an emergency.

Anti-nuclear campaigners from all over Britain are converging on Somerset today for a mass rally to be followed on Monday by a ‘mass trespass’ at the proposed site of the Hinkley C nuclear power station.

Important camp updates, 5 October, 22:00hrs

The camp is looking good! : we took a campsite on Thursday night, and more than 20 people are there and the mood is good. There are some great structures - you'll see what I mean soon...

We have a kitchen and toilet but along with your tent, we'd advise you to bring a ground mat and newspaper as the ground is very wet and you'll need extra protection for your tent and sleeping bag. Wellingtons are essential. It's also a good idea to bring water and loo paper. Food donations: bread, veg, fruit, snacks would also be appreciated.
