The Independent: Groups fight new nuclear reactors

A protester holds a sun-shaped banner at a protest against EDF Energy's plans to install two new reactors at the Hinkley Point power station in Somerset. More than 200 people, including members of several anti-nuclear groups who are part of the Stop New Nuclear alliance, were reported to have blockaded the site.

Stop New Nuclear spokesman Andreas Speck said: "The Government has hoodwinked the public into believing we need nuclear power to keep the lights on. But this is totally untrue." PA
